The Medical Assistant II-Dermatology is responsible for adhering to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, following all policies and procedures, and maintaining training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care. This role performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. The Medical Assistant II assists providers with or performs procedures as ordered, and handles lab-related duties including venipuncture, specimen collection, and results tracking. They also perform Point of Care testing, complete CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests, and administer medications and vaccines safely. Additional duties may include medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. The position requires effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. Maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately, and keeping areas stocked are also key responsibilities. The role may involve assisting with training and onboarding of other teammates or serving as a role champion or on a committee. The Medical Assistant II must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, including understanding growth and development principles and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
