About The Position

The WIN clinic provides primary care services to anyone over the age of 18. The clinic provides comprehensive medical services ranging from physicals to treating illness and injuries such as colds and flu; infections; diabetes; high blood pressure; and health screenings. The Certified Medical Assistant - II is responsible for directly supporting the Medical Staff. The primary task is to enter data and notes into the Electronic Health Record system. A successful Medical Assistant will be well versed in psychiatry, capable of understanding mental status, and the use of psychotropic medications. Medical Assistants (MA) must have knowledge of the behavioral healthcare field, medical terminology, use of an electronic health records system and ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow. The CMA-II functions under direct supervision of the Medical Staff when determining competencies and performing clinical tasks during patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant Certification in the state of Florida required
  • Minimum of One (1) year experience in a behavioral health environment required
  • Minimum of One (1) year experience as a medical assistant required
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive patient information.
  • Proficiency in basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering injections, and assisting with patient examinations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage patient records and appointments efficiently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for patient care.
  • Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information accurately in electronic health records.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Coordinate with patients and healthcare providers to schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
  • Provide patient education and support, addressing questions and concerns regarding treatments and procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure proper stock levels are maintained.
  • Follow all healthcare regulations and protocols to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training to stay updated with healthcare practices and certifications.
