The Medical Assistant I position is a full-time role within the GCMG Kannapolis Internal Medicine department. This role involves providing patient care under the Medical Assistant scope of practice, adhering to all policies and procedures, and maintaining competency. Key responsibilities include performing rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, and health maintenance. The Medical Assistant will also assist providers with procedures, perform lab-related duties including venipuncture and specimen collection, and conduct Point of Care testing. Additionally, the role involves administering medications and vaccines safely, completing CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests, and performing various administrative and clinical support tasks such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, patient messaging, and appointment scheduling. The position requires cross-training for duties relevant to the clinic practice, demonstrating effective communication and teamwork, and maintaining a clean and well-stocked work environment. The Medical Assistant must possess the knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development across the lifespan.
