About The Position

We are seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) eager to grow in their role, build new skills, and take ownership of key responsibilities in the field of urogynecology. The team provides specialized care and needs someone motivated, adaptable, and ready to learn. The MA will have the chance to deepen their knowledge and contribute meaningfully to the UroGyn team. The team consists of OB/GYN physicians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, certified nurse-midwives, nurse practitioners, and counselors. The organization honors every person who walks through their doors and uplifts them through quality connections, enriching their health and lives. They care for over 50,000 people each year across 12 clinic locations in the Portland area. The MA will have the flexibility and opportunity to learn and grow with different providers and subspecialties within obstetrics and gynecology. This role offers hands-on experience and the chance to expand the MA's role, with access to mentorship, professional development, and opportunities to work on complex patient cases. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Graduation from an accredited medical assisting program
  • Certified as an MA through AAMA, NCCT, or AMT, or if recently graduated, ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire (required)
  • CPR certification (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in phlebotomy/injections strongly preferred
  • Experience with Epic EMR is a plus!
  • Bilingual skills

Responsibilities

  • Work in close partnership with clinicians as an integral and valued member of the care team.
  • Room patients and provide direct patient care support.
  • Assist with complex procedures and provide procedural support for patients.
  • Perform bladder installations and self-catheterization teaching with guidance from the UroGyn team.
  • Manage referral processes, including scrubbing and teeing up referrals for review.
  • Ensure charts are complete and ready for patient visits.
  • Set up telehealth visits and ensure all necessary patient information is available.
  • Complete prior authorizations for office-based procedures such as UDS, medications, and Botox.
  • Field patient calls and manage patient needs, escalating next steps as needed.
  • Potentially schedule post-op and follow-up appointments.
  • Support administrative work related to UroGyn and advanced GYN services, including maintaining referral lists and assisting patients calling in for advice.
  • Ensure patients are roomed and that all necessary medical records are available prior to visits.
