About The Position
ChristianaCare's Surgical Services team is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant I for their department in Newark, DE at our Map I location. Join a trusted, patient‑centered General Surgery team delivering high‑quality care to communities across Delaware. Our board‑certified general surgeons provide comprehensive surgical services for conditions affecting the abdomen, breast, skin, soft tissue, endocrine system, and digestive tract. Our program offers expertise across a wide range of procedures, including hernia repair, gallbladder removal, bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, and other advanced general surgery interventions. The team is committed to utilizing modern surgical techniques, including minimally invasive and laparoscopic approaches, to support faster recovery times and improved patient outcomes. Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Responsibilities
- Greets and supports patients virtually and in person.
- Prepares patients for visits.
- Performs basic clinical tasks (e.g., testing, injections, EKGs).
- Assists with exams.
- Maintains exam rooms and equipment.
- Manages EMR updates, patient communications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling.
- Handles clerical duties.
- Troubleshoots video visits.
- Supports patient portal access.
