Medical Assistant I, Plastic Surgery
About The Position
ChristianaCare is looking for a Medical Assistant I to join their Plastic Surgery team. At ChristianaCare, our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team is dedicated to restoring confidence, function and quality of life for patients affected by cancer, trauma or congenital conditions. Our surgeons provide comprehensive, patient-centered care across breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction, and complex trauma reconstruction, using advanced surgical techniques and a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. This role is a split position between clinical and adminstrative duties.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Responsibilities
- Greets and supports patients virtually and in person.
- Prepares patients for visits.
- Performs basic clinical tasks (e.g., testing, injections, EKGs).
- Assists with exams.
- Maintains exam rooms and equipment.
- Manages EMR updates, patient communications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling.
- Handles clerical duties.
- Troubleshoots video visits.
- Supports patient portal access.
