The Medical Assistant (MA) will work in a Cardiology Clinic and is responsible for adhering to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, following all policies and procedures, and maintaining training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care. The MA will perform rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. They will assist providers with procedures, perform lab-related duties including venipuncture and specimen collection, and conduct Point of Care testing (POCT). The role also involves administering medications and vaccines safely, completing tasks such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, patient messaging, and scheduling appointments. The MA will be cross-trained for duties relevant to the specialty or clinic practice, demonstrate effective communication and teamwork, and maintain a clean and stocked work environment. This position requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles.
