About The Position

Vera Whole Health is seeking a dependable, patient-focused Medical Assistant to support our providers and deliver exceptional patient care. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships with patients, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is committed to providing outstanding service and clinical excellence. The Medical Assistant will support 2-4 providers and play an essential role in both clinical and administrative workflows across our care centers.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to work at all four Vera Whole Health care centers: Polaris, Dublin, Easton, and Westerville
  • Locations are within approximately 20 minutes of one another
  • Work location schedules are provided 3-4 weeks in advance
  • 1-2 years of Medical Assistant experience required
  • Must have experience with: Phlebotomy/lab draws
  • Must have experience with: Injections and immunizations
  • Must have experience with: Customer service
  • Reliable attendance is essential
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple providers
  • Experience performing phlebotomy/lab draws
  • Experience administering injections and immunizations
  • Experience working in an EMR system
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work at all four locations
  • Must provide proof of a negative/cleared TB test completed within the past 12 months

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in primary care, family medicine, or value-based care environments
  • Experience with prior authorizations and referral management
  • Knowledge of sterilization, autoclaving, and infection-control practices

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and complete intake procedures
  • Obtain and document manual vital signs in the EMR
  • Assist providers during examinations and office-based procedures
  • Administer immunizations, injections, and oral medications
  • Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for laboratory testing
  • Process labs, swabs, and other patient samples
  • Observe and document patient responses to treatments and procedures
  • Provide patient education and support preventive care initiatives
  • Track referrals, preventive care needs, and follow-up items
  • Conduct patient outreach related to referrals, care gaps, and records requests
  • Manage provider inboxes and patient communications
  • Complete prior authorizations and required documentation
  • Make outgoing calls to patients regarding appointments, referrals, and follow-up care
  • Document accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and patient registration as needed
  • Manage patient flow throughout the care center
  • Prepare exam and procedure rooms using sterile and aseptic techniques
  • Maintain inventory and restock clinical supplies
  • Support front desk operations and answer multi-line phones when needed
  • Serve as a professional representative of Vera Whole Health
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
  • Follow OSHA, CLIA, infection prevention, and safety guidelines
  • Complete quality assurance controls and documentation requirements
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in team meetings and daily huddles
  • Collaborate with providers and clinic staff to achieve patient care goals
  • Support onboarding, training, and competency activities as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
