About The Position
ChristianaCare Gastroenterology at Elkton is seeking a professional, dependable, detail-oriented Medical Assistant I with strong communication, integrity, and solid technical and clinical skills. ChristianaCare Gastroenterology at provides specialized gastrointestinal and liver care to patients throughout the community. The practice is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care with a strong focus on colorectal cancer prevention and screening, digestive health, and the diagnosis and treatment of liver disease. Services include advanced gastrointestinal procedures such as colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy, as well as evaluation and management of a variety of liver conditions, including hepatitis, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, liver cancer, and inherited liver disorders. As a Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within medical practice.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required
- Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
Responsibilities
- Greet and support patients virtually and in person
- Prepare patients for visits
- Perform basic clinical tasks (e.g., testing, injections, EKGs)
- Assist with exams
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment
- Manage EMR updates, patient communications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling
- Handle clerical duties
- Troubleshoot video visits
- Support patient portal access
