About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Medical Assistant for their GI Clinic in Franklin, Tennessee. The GI ECL Clinical Staff role supports the licensed healthcare team by organizing patient flow, gathering patient data, assisting with patient education, and communicating with the healthcare team. The Vanderbilt General Gastroenterology clinic specializes in diagnosing and managing chronic digestive problems to improve patients' quality of life. This position requires MA certification recognized by Vanderbilt Health, with consideration given to candidates who can obtain certification within 120 days. The role involves supporting patient flow, maintaining supplies and equipment, identifying patient healthcare needs, performing/assisting with procedures, collecting patient screening data, and assisting with patient/family education. The position emphasizes planning, organizing, clinical competencies, environment of care, and clinical patient documentation.

Requirements

MA certification recognized by AMT, AAMA, NCCT, NHA, or NAHP.
Consideration may be given to candidates that can obtain certification within 120 days, in accordance with state guidelines.
12 months of patient care experience (to sit for exam).
Graduate of an approved discipline specific program.
Relevant Work Experience
Less than 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

Supports the licensed healthcare team in performing office examinations and procedures by organizing and managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, assist with patient and family education and communication with patient's health care team.
Directs and supports patient flow as well as unit operations by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environmental standards.
Facilitates identification of resources to meet patient healthcare needs.
Performs/assists with procedures according to organizational/departmental standards.
Collects and documents patient screening data for the healthcare team.
Assists with patient and family education.
