About The Position

Optimus Health Care, the largest provider of primary health care services in Fairfield County, is seeking a dedicated Full Time Medical Assistant/Front Office Registrar to join their School Base Health Center Team in Bridgeport, CT. This role is part of a team-based model of care, focused on providing high-quality, patient-centered services in a kind and compassionate manner. The position involves consistent hours aligned with public school schedules and requires a commitment to Optimus's vision, mission, and values of being outstanding, patient-centered, trustworthy, and understanding.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Professional Medical Assistant Certification obtained through one of the following agencies.
  • Experience in a clinical setting.
  • CPR certification required upon hire and recertification bi-annually.
  • Professional positive attitude, vision, understanding of customer service principals, trustworthiness, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively interpret medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) helpful.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, helpful.
  • English/Creole helpful.
  • Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or in process of acquiring Certification, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with providers, nurses, and clinical support staff to ensure complete and timely patient flow.
  • Verify demographic and insurance information to ensure prompt payment of services.
  • Monitor provider schedules to ensure established productivity levels and timely scheduling of patient visits.
  • Conduct initial intake of patients.
  • Explore community resources available to meet client needs.
  • Update patient information.
  • Collect co-pays, take patient history & vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for exam & treatment.
  • Prepare exam rooms with necessary equipment & supplies.
  • Assist with scheduling of tests & treatments.
  • Answer phones, perform copying, faxing, scanning, and other administrative tasks.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Exhibit sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population.
