About The Position

We are seeking a versatile and reliable Medical Assistant Floater to join our team. This hybrid role requires cross-training in both front desk and clinical duties. The position involves traveling to various clinic locations based on staffing needs or patient volume. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing high-quality patient care and customer service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical assistant role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and clinical pharmacology within the medical assistant scope of practice.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical health record (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to handle medical instruments and perform clinical tasks accurately.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds when needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of front desk experience preferred.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Open office by unlocking doors, turning on lights/computers, and maintaining a clean front desk and lobby area.
  • Greet patients warmly and maintain excellent customer service.
  • Answer phones, take/send messages, and schedule appointments.
  • Document patient calls in the clinical EMR.
  • Coordinate with insurance and billing departments regarding payments and collections.
  • Check emails and clinical messages daily and respond accordingly.
  • Collect and post patient payments; reconcile money bags for accuracy at the end of the day.
  • Check patients in and out in the EMR system, confirming appointments.
  • Generate lab orders for patients.
  • Upload patient intake forms and pharmacy information into the EMR.
  • Assist patients with paperwork and address any concerns.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate with Specialty Techs and Front Desk staff each morning to review the clinic schedule and identify patients requiring labs and urine testing.
  • Prepare patient exam rooms by turning on lights and disinfecting surfaces.
  • Room patients, obtain and record vital signs.
  • Verify patient information and confirm the purpose of the visit.
  • Document patient medical histories, treatments, and test results in the EMR.
  • Ensure grey boxes are up-to-date with PMP verification, last UDS, and MME scores.
  • Assist practitioners with medical procedures, examinations, and patient care needs.
  • Educate patients on medication refills and procedure/imaging scheduling.
  • Respond to patient messages and return calls promptly.
  • Update medication tabs in the EMR and ensure all prescriptions are sent daily.
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, HIPAA, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Scan and label patient lab reports and other clinical documentation into charts.
  • Schedule/reschedule patients based on medication fill dates.
  • Send patient recommendations and referrals to appropriate departments daily.
  • Communicate scheduling changes to management, nursing supervisors, and other relevant personnel.
  • Submit medical record requests, imaging orders, and procedure forms daily.
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, HIPAA, and OSHA guidelines.
