Assists with patient care activities as instructed; provides both clinical and administrative support for the clinic and physician staff as needed. This role involves floating between various departments and sites to provide support where needed, adapting quickly to differing protocols and workflows. The Medical Assistant Floater will collect and enter patient health history, take vitals, review and maintain charts, escort patients, monitor schedules and patient flow, enter test and procedure orders, document patient information in EMR, and assist with minor surgical procedures. They will also assist with the placement, removal, and instruction of DME devices, clean and sterilize equipment, clean and stock exam rooms, communicate restrictions and instructions to patients, and communicate with outside facilities for scheduling tests or surgery. Additionally, this role includes completing insurance, disability, and FMLA forms, and assisting with administrative duties such as collections, check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, pre-cert procedures, insurance verification, data entry, posting charges, and assisting secretaries.
