About The Position

Seeking a Per Diem Medical Assistant Floater for BCHP's Pediatric Offices in Westchester, NY, Greenwich, CT, Norwalk, CT, and Stamford, CT. The role requires reliable transportation to float to BCHP core offices in Westchester and Southern Connecticut as needed. The Medical Assistant will create a patient-centered environment, prepare rooms, escort patients, record vital signs, document chief complaints, perform screenings, administer immunizations, conduct various tests (strep, flu, lead, hemoglobin, cholesterol), perform venipuncture, assist physicians with sick and well-child visits, clean and restock rooms, relay messages, prepare for lab tests, assist with procedures, sterilize instruments, record test results, track lab results, enter procedures into the superbill, assist visiting subspecialists, and operate according to standard orders and protocols. The position also involves providing patient-centered care, attending medical home meetings, participating in pre-visit planning, and demonstrating excellent customer service. Organizational duties include supporting BCHP's goals for quality service and patient satisfaction, completing required annual trainings (care coordination, population health management, self-management support), corporate compliance training, understanding HIPAA and client confidentiality, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities

  • Create a patient-centered environment
  • Prepare rooms for the day
  • Escort patients to room; prepare patients for examinations
  • Record height/weight (head circ if age appropriate) and blood pressure for well visit; chart
  • Ask parent or patient about chief complaint and document
  • Perform vision and hearing screening as necessary and document in chart according to standing protocols
  • Gather proper immunizations at well visits, document in chart, and gain consent from parents
  • Perform strep tests and flu test swabs, record results in the chart, and charge for the procedures
  • Perform fingerstick lead, hemoglobin, and cholesterol tests according to standing protocols, document results in chart, and bill for procedure
  • Perform venipuncture when requested by providers
  • Assist doctors as needed with sick visits, as well as well-child visits
  • Clean and restock rooms and equipment
  • Relay messages as may be required by physicians
  • Prepare for urine culture and analysis
  • Prepare for strep tests and all other laboratory tests
  • Assist doctor and nurses with procedures
  • Prepare instruments for sterilization
  • Record overnight culture results in chart
  • Check and chart temps in fridge and incubator
  • Record culture results in chart
  • Track lab results
  • Enter procedures done into the superbill
  • Act as medical assistant for visiting subspecialists and perform diagnostic tests for them as required
  • Operate according to standard orders and standing protocols
  • Enter all charges into superbill
  • Provide care in a patient-centered manner
  • Attend medical home meetings
  • Participate in pre-visit planning
  • Demonstrate excellence in both internal and external customer service

  • Perform duties to support the goals and objectives of Boston Children's Health Physicians in its efforts to provide quality service and patient satisfaction
  • Demonstrate continuing education by completing all required annual trainings, as stated in the Training Curriculum, including but not limited to care coordination, population health management and self-management support techniques.
  • Complete annual corporate compliance training
  • Understand and effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance and client confidentiality
  • Ensure and/or remain in compliance with local, state and federal regulation
