About The Position

We are seeking a dependable and patient-centered Medical Assistant – Float to join our clinical team. This role is critical to ensuring continuity of care across multiple office locations, providing back-office support wherever operational needs arise. The Medical Assistant will assist with patient preparation for physician examinations, perform triage and assessments, deliver patient education, and support follow-up care as directed by the physician. The ideal candidate is adaptable, clinically competent, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. A strong understanding of HMO insurance carriers is required, along with the ability to build professional, compassionate rapport with patients while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting efficient clinical workflows.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of HMO insurance plans required.
  • Proficient computer and typing skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities, locations, and workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of experience in a medical setting preferred
  • formal medical training or certification from a trade school is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Athena, CPT, and ICD-10 coding preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients, providers, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Float between designated office locations to provide clinical support as needed.
  • Perform patient triage and assessments.
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs.
  • Assist physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Support physicians during in-office clinical procedures.
  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed.
  • Assist with follow-up on test results and communicate care instructions to patients.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate medication records.
  • Coordinate scheduling and pre-certification for diagnostic tests (e.g., CT, MRI, PET scans).
  • Maintain patient charts, medical records, and physician dictation.
  • Manage patient phone messages and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant clinical environment.
  • Perform lab and X-ray duties if certified.
  • Order and restock medical supplies as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the physician or practice manager.
