Assist physicians with medical procedures in office. Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. This role involves performing proper quality control procedures before patient testing, conducting laboratory blood work, and performing blood draws. It also includes following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, and performing technical laboratory procedures accurately and precisely, meeting regulatory standards. The position requires preparing blood or bone marrow slides, sending outside labs to appropriate facilities, and maintaining various logs and records. The Medical Assistant will adhere to patient identification policies, obtain vital signs, prepare patients for physician examinations, and receive and document lab reports. Assisting physicians with procedures such as bone marrows, fine needle aspirates, paracentesis, and pelvic exams is a key responsibility. Scheduling outside testing, referrals, and hospital admissions may also be required. Thorough documentation in the medical record, preparing encounter forms for billing, and documenting quality control and assurance actions are essential. The role also involves maintaining supply inventory, ordering supplies, troubleshooting instrument malfunctions, performing EKG testing, and ensuring laboratory compliance with state and federal regulations. Compliance testing and obtaining required continuing education units (CEUs) are mandatory. Safety guidelines, laboratory cleanliness, and adherence to all laws, regulations, and company policies, including patient information confidentiality, are critical. The position may involve training new employees and working at any AON location, including overtime when necessary.
