About The Position

Premier Orthopaedics, in partnership with Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder, is seeking a dedicated and flexible Float Medical Assistant to join our team supporting our Ridley Park, Glen Mills, Media, and Aston, PA locations. The Float Medical Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support across multiple office locations based on staffing and operational needs. This position will provide coverage during employee absences, leaves, staffing shortages, and periods of high patient volume. In addition to traditional Medical Assistant responsibilities, the role will assist with preparing and organizing medical records and charts related to legal work, helping providers efficiently review records and complete legal reports. This is a full-time, on-site role that requires travel between assigned office locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between assigned office locations as needed.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different office environments, providers, and workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred, but not required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience in a physician practice or clinical setting preferred.
  • Orthopedic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Medical Assistant coverage across assigned office locations based on staffing and patient care needs.
  • Prepares patients for visits, including rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, reviewing intake information, and ensuring accurate documentation within the EMR.
  • Assists providers during examinations, procedures, and other clinical activities as directed.
  • Prepares patient charts prior to visits and ensures required documentation, imaging, testing, and other information are available for provider review.
  • Facilitates communication between patients and providers by collecting and relaying pertinent information and carrying out provider directives.
  • Assists providers with prescriptions, forms, patient education, and other clinical documentation as directed.
  • Prepares and organizes medical charts and records related to legal work to support timely provider review and completion of legal reports.
  • Assists with medical record management and other administrative responsibilities associated with legal documentation.
  • Maintains exam rooms and clinical workspaces, including cleaning and restocking supplies and monitoring inventory.
  • Performs administrative and clerical responsibilities, including scanning documents, managing records, and supporting provider schedules and EMR tasks.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and supports HIPAA, safety, quality, and organizational compliance requirements.
  • Promotes a positive patient experience and provides professional, collaborative support to physicians, staff, and patients across assigned locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
