About The Position

We are seeking a Floating Medical Assistant to join our team at MaxHealth! This multi-faceted role combines front office coordination with clinical medical assistant duties, and travels between four of our DFW-area clinics to cover staffing gaps, high-volume days, and vacation or leave coverage. You will step into either the front desk or the back office as needed, ensuring each location runs smoothly and every patient receives a consistent, high-quality experience regardless of which clinic they visit. The ideal candidate is adaptable, organized, and comfortable moving between administrative and clinical responsibilities on short notice. This role requires strong customer service and phone skills, EMR proficiency, hands-on clinical competency (vitals, injections, specimen collection, and other MA duties as signed off), and the flexibility and reliable transportation needed to work across multiple sites in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The four locations this role would regularly work at are in Dallas, Colleyville, Ft. Worth, and Frisco.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician office or clinical setting; primary care/PCP experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior front office / patient scheduling experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing principles, clinical protocols, and medical terminology.
  • Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, EMR systems, and medical practice management software.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel daily between clinic locations within the DFW metroplex.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly to different clinic environments, teams, and schedules with little advance notice.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent customer service, phone etiquette, and communication skills.
  • A compassionate, patient-first approach and a professional, team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to maintain composure and sound judgment while moving between administrative and clinical tasks.
  • Up-to-date certification (if applicable) and compliance with all infection control and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Travel between four DFW-area clinic locations based on the weekly/daily staffing schedule, providing front office and/or clinical coverage wherever the need is greatest.
  • Arrive at each assigned clinic prepared to work independently with minimal onboarding time, quickly adapting to that location's team, layout, and patient flow.
  • Communicate proactively with the Front Office Lead, Clinic Manager, and staff regarding schedule, coverage gaps, and any site-specific issues.
  • Maintain consistent quality of care and service standards across all locations.
  • Greet and check in/out patients with a warm, professional, and welcoming demeanor.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing phone calls across a multi-line system, ensuring prompt and courteous communication.
  • Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments; answer questions about services offered.
  • Perform accurate data entry and maintain organized patient records and files.
  • Verify insurance, collect co-pays, and handle basic front-desk billing tasks as needed.
  • Assess patients' general condition and take vital signs, weight, and medication/dosage review.
  • Perform clinical procedures (e.g., injections) that you have been signed off to perform, under physician supervision.
  • Document all activities, interventions, patient responses, and medications in the electronic medical record.
  • Collect and process urine and blood samples for testing.
  • Clean and restock exam/procedure rooms between patients, following established protocols and OSHA guidelines.
  • Package and sterilize equipment and assist with maintenance of autoclaves, endoscopes, and other clinical equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and confidentiality (HIPAA) policies at every location.
  • Support providers and clinic staff with other clinical or administrative duties as assigned by the COS or site lead.
