About The Position

The Medical Assistant Float assists physicians in patient assessment, examination, and treatment. Key responsibilities include managing patient flow, performing diagnostic procedures like EKGs and phlebotomy, administering injections, and taking vital signs. The role also involves acting as a liaison to ensure patient satisfaction and maintaining/ordering necessary medical supplies. This position requires interaction with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in alignment with Jefferson's values. The Medical Assistant escorts patients to exam rooms, verifies identification, and documents vital signs, clinical quality measures, and medical history. Proficiency in information technology systems and their documentation requirements is essential. The role supports physicians during examinations and procedures, including EKG and venipuncture/injections, ensuring quality patient care. Adherence to HIPAA privacy and security requirements is mandatory. Ordering clinical supplies to maintain inventory and ensure smooth office operations is also a key duty.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• BLS through the America Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania practice locations.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with medical office procedures.
• For NJ Only : Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program which includes, at a minimum, 330 hours of instruction and encompasses training in the administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
• For internal Einstein applicants only : Medical Assistant certification is not required if a current Einstein employee in a current Medical Assistant role with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024 when transferring within Einstein entities.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians with examinations, various diagnostic procedures, and may perform EKG and venipuncture/injections in the office, using appropriate skills to provide quality care to the patients.
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
• Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory and to facilitate smooth operations of the office.
