The Float Pool offers caregivers the ability to support diverse populations across numerous departments, units, and locations within the Cleveland Clinic system. This position provides an opportunity to develop extensive experience across nearly every specialty area of healthcare. As a Medical Assistant for the Float Pool, you will utilize your medical and administrative skills to provide support to patients and caregivers under the supervision of a physician or nurse. This per diem RN will support the following locations: Weston Clinic, Weston Family Health Center, Krupa, Parkland, Coral Springs, Coral Medical, Wellington, Concierge Fort Lauderdale and Weston, West Palm Beach, and Palm Beach Gardens. All your work helps ensure the best possible health outcomes while also providing opportunities to enhance your skills, gain hands-on experience, and explore advanced positions within Cleveland Clinic. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working days between 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and must be able to work one to two 8-hour shifts per week, including at least one Monday and one Friday per month. Caregivers in this role will also travel to Weston, Coral Springs, Parkland, West Palm Beach, and Palm Beach Gardens, with tolls and mileage compensated.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting Program
  • Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
  • Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period
  • Current demonstrated clinical proficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assisting Certification
  • Successful completion of Cleveland Clinic Externship
  • Experience with adult populations
  • Experience with EPIC
  • One year of experience in outpatient setting

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests and documenting patient care.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
  • Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider.
  • Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas.
  • Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
