About The Position
Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery is offering Externship opportunities for motivated students currently completing their Medical Assistant coursework and seeking hands-on clinical experience in a high-volume, fast-paced dermatology practice. This unpaid externship provides real-world dermatology experience and aims to help students fulfill their externship requirements.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a Medical Assistant program (with required externship hours)
- Strong communication and professionalism
- CPR certification preferred or ability to obtain
- Reliable transportation
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake, triage, and vital signs
- Support providers during dermatologic exams and shadow minor procedures
- Prepare and clean exam rooms
- Document patient information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Learn administrative tasks related to clinic reception and Medical Assistant duties
- Learn dermatology-specific skills and patient education techniques
