About The Position

The Culinary Health Fund (CHF) provides comprehensive healthcare benefits to over 55,000 workers and 70,000 dependents in the Las Vegas Valley. CHF partners with Keck Medicine of USC to operate and staff Primary Care and Physical Therapy services at its Culinary Health Centers. Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) - If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
  • Certification - Job Relevant Current Medical Laboratory Personnel License – NV. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience
  • Experience in acute care setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Familiarity with word processing, GECB, COR, Cerner, ProSolv, and scheduling software

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain and record vital signs/medication list, and monitor patient flow.
  • Assist physicians with minor clinical procedures, perform EKGs, and prepare patient charts with pertinent medical information.
  • Schedule diagnostic tests ordered by the physician as needed.
  • Perform various office and clerical duties.
  • Ensure patient's right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality is maintained.
  • Maintain a safe environment in accordance with standards, policies, and safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control policies.
  • Determine patient care needs and direct patients accordingly.
  • Ensure health care delivery areas are fully stocked, organized, cleaned, and disinfected.
  • Maintain files and records, oversee equipment and office supply inventory.
  • Ensure that physician orders for medications and treatments are implemented by the appropriate staff.
  • Provide coverage/relief for co-workers, communicating patient status directly.
  • Record patient information in chart/EHR according to Joint Commission standards and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Obtain blood sample specimens by venipuncture or capillary methods, with appropriate consideration for the patient's age.
  • Receive and screen specimens for acceptability according to established guidelines.
  • Process, distribute, or package all specimens received.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
