About The Position

The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the provider and/or nursing staff with all aspects of patient care. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from a nine-month Medical Assistant course required.
  • CPR/BLS Card required
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks at the same time
  • Possesses strong telephone skills
  • Physically fit to perform the duties of the position
  • Willingly participates as a member of the nursing team
  • Possesses effective organizational skills
  • Maintains a “can-do” attitude

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrates effective communication and telephone skills
  • Computer literacy preferred

Responsibilities

  • Able to process patients for examination by the provider by obtaining vital signs and history. Documents the encounter in the EMR. Assists provider/nursing staff with procedures and treatments as necessary.
  • Gives injections, administers oral medications, and performs limited treatments as indicated by, and under the supervision of the provider.
  • Assists in preparing information for patient appointments; such as labs, hospital reports, referrals and notes. Able to complete office forms and documents.
  • Assist in the maintenance of electronic medical record (EMR). Scans documents as required.
  • Keeps all treatment areas and nurse’s stations neat and clean at all times; orders all medical and clerical supplies and keeps the office stocked within designated par levels; cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization as necessary.
  • Answers incoming phone calls and transfers the calls as needed. Takes prescription (RX) messages, identifies and verifies information needed to schedule appointment requests. Assist with follow appointments or referrals.
  • Works to help our patients and family members have a good experience. Takes initiative in problem solving, maintains confidentiality of patient and company information, and interacts with patients, co-workers, and management in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • All other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates quality work, completes assignments on a timely basis, and makes decisions within limits of authority. Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains time and attendance standards consistent with company policy.
