About The Position

The Medical Assistant-Clinic Specialist is responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical related functions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Certificate.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited institution.
  • CPR Certification.
  • At least one year of experience in primary care/internal medicine practice.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Positive approach and enthusiasm.
  • Must exhibit strong organizational, interpersonal skills, attention to detail and time management.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, nights, and holidays as required by business operations.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient information by interviewing patients; record medical history; confirm purpose of visit.
  • Communicate all significant changes in patient conditions or behavior to physicians.
  • Ensure all medical record/patient charts contain necessary documentation for medical appointments.
  • Assist the specialists during the consultation.
  • Perform and document vital signs (i.e., temperature, B/P, Resp.) and measure (i.e., height, weight, etc.).
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization.
  • Monitor patient’s hospitalization, walk-ins and daily calls.
  • Assist physician with simple procedures and collection of specimens to be sent to laboratory for results.
  • Schedule and verify appointments, studies, lab tests and obtain/verify authorizations.
  • Willingness to travel to all the facilities based on operational requirements.
  • Follow-up of patients who underwent a medical procedure. Its evolution should be documented.
  • Follow standard procedures, rules, and instructions to properly sanitize and utilize cleaning equipment.
  • Constant and effective communication with members of the team regarding consultations.
  • Adhere and follow set policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards, relevant legal, regulatory and safety requirements of HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
