MA / Medical Assistant - Primary Care at Shoreline
About The Position
UW Medicine Primary Care at Shoreline has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This is a part-time position, 94% FTE, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during the day shift. Located on Highway 99, in Aurora Village Mall, UW Medicine Primary Care at Shoreline offers primary care appointments six days a week, including evenings and same-day appointments. The clinic’s board-certified doctors are dedicated to providing personalized care throughout all stages of life and offer a complete spectrum of primary care services. These include family medicine with obstetrics, internal medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, obstetrics, gynecology, travel medicine, nutrition services, optometry, aesthetic medicine and sleep medicine. Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
- Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
- Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Responsibilities
- Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
- Perform injections
- Prepare and clean exam rooms
- Submit medication prior authorizations
- Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
- Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
- Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
- Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
- Assist in transporting patients as required
