About The Position
UW Medical Center-Montlake - Women's Health at Roosevelt has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This position is full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week), working Monday-Friday, 9:30 am - 6:00 pm, Day Shift. The OB/GYN and Primary Care department at UW Medical Center – Roosevelt provides specialized care for complex gynecology concerns, including dysplasia and HPV disease, family planning for medically complex patients, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, gynecologic surgery consultation, and pediatric and adolescent gynecology services. The role involves rooming patients, taking vital signs, reconciling records, performing injections, preparing and cleaning exam rooms, submitting medication prior authorizations, recognizing and reporting symptoms, acting as a liaison between patients and providers, assisting with procedures, and performing point-of-care testing.
Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
- Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
Responsibilities
- Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
- Perform injections
- Prepare and clean exam rooms
- Submit medication prior authorizations
- Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
- Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
- Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
- Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
- Assist in transporting patients as required
