About The Position

UW Medical Center-Northwest - OB/GYN has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This is a full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) position with a fixed duration, expected to last 6 months. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Day Shift. The Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic at Northwest Outpatient Medical Center provides a full range of obstetrics and gynecology care, including wellness exams, pregnancy care, minimally invasive surgery, family planning, nutritional counseling, management of menopausal issues, and screenings for gynecologic problems like PCOS and endometriosis. Requirements

• Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
• Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

• Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
• Perform injections
• Prepare and clean exam rooms
• Submit medication prior authorizations
• Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
• Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
• Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
• Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
• Assist in transporting patients as required
