About The Position

Harborview - Medical Specialties has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). The Dermatology Clinic at Harborview Medical Center provides care to patients of all ages. Services include the evaluation, management and education of patients with diseases of the skin, such as acne, dermatitis, keratoses, melanoma, squamous and basal cell carcinoma, psoriasis, pruritus, warts and wounds. The Rheumatology Clinic at Harborview Medical Center offers evaluation and ongoing care for adults and adolescents suffering from a variety of inflammatory and autoimmune rheumatic conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, myositis, and scleroderma. In addition to comprehensive, on-site laboratory and imaging services, we offer a specialized musculoskeletal ultrasound for advanced diagnostics and therapy. The Occupational and Environmental Medicine Clinic at Harborview offers comprehensive services for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of occupational and environmental exposures, illness and injury by board-certified occupational medicine physicians. Each patient receives a detailed exposure assessment and comprehensive clinical testing, as needed. This often involves multi-specialty evaluations, guided by the most up-to-date scientific research. Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
  • Perform injections
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Submit medication prior authorizations
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
  • Assist in transporting patients as required
