About The Position

Provides comprehensive clerical and patient support to providers and the patient care team by performing a variety of back-office and patient‑related tasks that contribute to the delivery of high‑quality care. This role focuses increasingly on administrative responsibilities, including managing work queues, processing referrals, handling phone calls, and supporting departmental workflow. The position plays a key role in ensuring smooth operations within the department and assisting the care team in carrying out the medical plan of care. Integrates strong communication skills, technical proficiency, and patient‑centered service to gain cooperation and build trust with patients, families/support persons, and healthcare staff. While some clinical tasks may be performed, they will be limited, and all duties are completed under the direction and supervision of a clinician.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program (Must present diploma within 90 days) OR Completion of Medical Assistant externship (160 hours)
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • General knowledge of various medical procedures, views, and equipment
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Competent and validated in basic Medical Assisting skills
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and electronic health record (EHR)

  • Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
