About The Position

This is a year-long internship and medical assistant position at Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, ideal for students who have graduated or are about to graduate from undergraduate school and are considering a career in medicine. The program, now in its 22nd year, aims to provide in-depth medical assistant training and hands-on experience in dermatology. It is designed for individuals who are not currently applying to medical school for the September 2026 intake and have completed their undergraduate degree by June 2026 or earlier. The position requires a full year commitment and is available in multiple states. A car or reliable transportation is necessary due to the need to travel between offices. This is a paid, full-time internship with a cohort of 40 participants.

Requirements

• Must be a student wishing to pursue a career in medicine.
• Must have graduated or will be graduating by June 2026 or earlier.
• Must be available for a twelve-month period.
• Must not be currently applying for medical school to begin in September 2026.
• Must have a car or reliable transportation.
• Must be available business hours Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physician with all patient care duties.
• Triage patients.
• Perform Electronic Medical Record (EMR) data entry.
• Write and understand prescriptions and their uses.
• Prepare for and clean up after biopsies.
• Assist with and clean up after surgical procedures.
