Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Medical Assisting Program.
  • 1 year experience in a clinic or hospital setting preferred.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position.
  • Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to deliver excellent customer service, externally and internally.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician with physical examinations.
  • Carry out nursing treatments and procedures according to Physician’s documented orders.
  • Take patient history, vital signs, symptoms, and conditions and document them in the medical record.
  • Administer patient immunizations following clinical protocols and provider's instructions.
  • Administer medications and treatments ordered by the provider.
  • Check the treatment room for properly functioning equipment and stock supplies.
  • Maintain lab duties including daily quality checks and documentation, specimen processing, daily cleaning and disinfection of lab and equipment, and submission of QC and patient testing logs monthly.
  • Travel to other Centro Del Barrio sites in carrying out duties.
  • Assist the provider in specialized examinations and treatments/procedures as directed.
  • Keep and maintain the inventory for the supply room and assist the LVN Nurse Supervisor in other duties.
  • Perform venipuncture as ordered by provider.
  • Abide by infection control policies and procedures.
  • Abide by policies and procedures on hazardous materials.
  • Abide by all safety policies.
  • Demonstrate competence with all patients.
  • Participate in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program.
  • Perform other duties as required.
