Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and EHR systems

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • 1+ year of medical assistant or healthcare experience preferred
  • Experience in behavioral health, primary care, addiction medicine, or specialty care preferred

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and prepare them for provider visits
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints
  • Assist providers with patient care coordination and clinical documentation
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain clinical supplies
  • Assist with lab coordination, urine drug screening workflows, and specimen collection processes as applicable
  • Administer injections and medications within scope of practice (if applicable)
  • Monitor patient flow to help ensure efficient scheduling and reduced wait times
  • Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and follow-up care coordination
  • Support providers with telehealth workflow preparation when needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record (EHR) documentation
  • Provide a calm, supportive, and respectful environment for behavioral health patients
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Recognize and appropriately communicate urgent patient concerns to clinical staff
  • Demonstrate empathy and professionalism when interacting with patients experiencing emotional or behavioral health challenges
