About The Position

Central Ozarks Medical Center (COMC) is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant for its Behavioral Health department. This role is crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of the clinic, ensuring patient well-being, and upholding the highest standards of care. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, from managing medical supplies and equipment to directly interacting with patients to gather medical histories and prepare them for examinations. Upholding patient confidentiality and maintaining a safe, compliant work environment are paramount. This position requires a proactive individual who can work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to a dynamic healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will be CPR certified, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and be committed to COMC's mission of providing accessible, high-quality healthcare.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program.
• CPR certified or become certified during the probationary period and maintain certification throughout employment.
• Maintain CEUs as directed by COMC.
• Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.
• Knowledge of fundamental math, adding machine, calculator, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• Experience with an electronic health record is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain medical supplies inventory and perform preventative maintenance on medical equipment.
• Verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.
• Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, taking vital signs, and reporting patient history summaries.
• Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, ensuring confidentiality.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations.
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, and calling for repairs.
• Serve and protect the practice by adhering to professional standards, facility policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
• Meet commitments, work independently, accept accountability, handle change, set personal standards, stay focused under pressure, and meet attendance/punctuality requirements.
• Travel to all COMC locations as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
