About The Position

Northwest Medical Group is seeking an exceptional Medical Assistant - Back Office to join our team with Community Medical Providers in Fresno, CA. This role is responsible for assisting in the delivery of quality health care and patient care management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
  • Must have recent Primary Care experience in Family Practice or Internal Medicine
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Be current and maintain BLS certification.
  • Excellent attendance and work ethic is a must!
  • Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed.
  • Skill in maintaining records and recording test results.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to be friendly, empathetic and understanding of our patient's needs.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards including, but not limited to confidentiality.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations, adapting to a changing environment and multitasking under busy conditions.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Candidates should have exceptional people and communication skills, be highly skilled in multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, a commitment to achieving a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and a no-task-too-small approach to the work.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  • Take the patient's vital signs and chief complaint.
  • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Keep examination rooms and back area neat, clean, disinfected and organized.
  • Assist physicians in preparing for office procedures.
  • Follow physician's order for treatment as requested for each patient.
  • Draw and administer appropriate medications for injections and immunizations per physician orders.
  • Run in-house point of care tests.
  • Assist with annual wellness visits, as well as assisting with attaining set preventative screening measures for patients.
  • May assist in submitting pharmacy requests as ordered by physician.
  • Maintain appropriate supply inventory and submit request for supplies.
  • Submit authorizations and orders to appropriate facilities as needed and ordered by physician for patient continuation of care.
  • Assist with patient calls and prior authorizations in between seeing patients.
  • Assist with completion of forms for FMLA, State Disability, etc.
  • Maintain patient files, records and other information.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Follow all MA competencies.
  • Provide administrative support, such as identifying and collecting data for quality reporting to ensure success of meeting quality measures.
  • Assist providers by performing patient outreach to close preventative care gaps (e.g., overdue screenings, immunizations).
