About The Position

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a Medical Assistant – Apprentice (MA-A) to join their patient care team. This is a 12-15 month apprenticeship program designed to prepare students for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) test. The program is registered with the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries and approved by the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. Apprentices will complete 2000 hours of paid on-the-job training with a dedicated coach and 364 hours of supplemental coursework, including online modules and in-person lab sessions to practice technical skills. The MA Apprentice will work with medical providers to ensure patients receive timely, courteous, and professional primary care services.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • BLS/CPR required (or within 90 days of hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Ambulatory or family medicine experience preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for visits, obtain histories and vital signs
  • Track and document clinical quality measures in the EHR
  • Assist providers with exams, procedures, and charting
  • Administer medications and immunizations within MA-A scope of practice
  • Coordinate referrals, labs, and specialty care
  • Support providers seeing an average of 18–21 patients per day
  • Provide excellent customer service using the AIDET model
