This specific role is for a Full-Time Medical Assistant specializing in Allergy at their Gramercy Office. The primary responsibility is to provide high-quality medical, clinical, and clerical support within an allergy practice setting. While previous healthcare experience is required, the role is open to individuals with no prior experience who are interested in healthcare, possess teamwork skills, are detail-oriented, and have flexible schedules.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • CPR and AED Certifications required.
  • Must be computer savvy and familiar with Outlook.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent patient relations and customer services skills.
  • Strong follow-up skills and ownership/accountability.
  • Must be professional, reliable, and dedicated.
  • Open availability to work during office and/or scheduled hours.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an allergy practice preferred.
  • Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems preferred.
  • Experience with allergy testing (skin prick, patch, and spirometry) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance patient service and care.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all standard operating protocols and policies specific to the clinical department, particularly within the allergy practice.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of allergy treatments and procedures to effectively manage patient needs, including proficiency in pre- and post-care instructions for allergy testing and immunotherapy.
  • Understand provider-to-patient flow and anticipate the provider's needs to maximize efficiency and quality of patient care.
  • Adapt to provider workflows, including tasks such as scribing, managing patient records, and assisting with patient communication.
  • Inspect all allergy testing equipment at the start of each shift and ensure treatment rooms are clean and adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Manage inventory and stock allergy-related supplies and equipment as directed.
  • Complete all required training and continued education opportunities within designated timeframes, with a focus on allergy care.
  • Assist physicians with allergy procedures, including skin prick tests, patch tests, spirometry, and immunotherapy injections.
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms for procedures and patient visits.
  • Accurately record prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, biopsies, cultures, photos, prescriptions, prior authorizations, obtain consents, and document procedures according to established guidelines.
  • Process payments, schedule follow-up appointments, and track inventory used during visits.
  • Learn and adhere to new workflows, including Klara paperwork, patient notifications, and patient messaging.
  • Maintain office cleanliness and manage waste removal.
  • Provide support at the front desk or as a greeter when needed.
  • Apply working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance.
  • Perform additional tasks for office and patient care as required.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
