About The Position

Under the direction, guidance and supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, Clinical Nurse Manager, RN Team Leader and/or licensed medical care provider (physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner), the Medical Assistant/Admit Worker provides quality nursing care for all patients presented at the Student Health Center. The Medical Assistant/Admit Worker is an important member of the health care team and is responsible for: patient centered duties, assisting medical care providers, performing technical and clerical tasks, completing special projects and assignments a delegated by the Nursing Supervisor and/or Clinical Nurse Manager. He/she is responsible for maintaining harmonious relationships and favorable attitudes among the health care team, practices the standards of quality nursing care, practices the principles of infection control, responds appropriately when an emergency situation occurs and performs the duties and responsibilities outlined in this job description. Incumbent performs non-licensed medical care in an assigned outpatient clinical setting. Performs clerical functions associated with the operations of a clinical office as necessary.

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays
  • Medical Assistant Diploma or Certificate of Competency / Recognition in Medical Assisting Clinical / Back Office
  • BLS certification
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

  • Outpatient experience
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • 1-3 years Medical Assistant in ambulatory care setting
