About The Position

Under the supervision of Cancer Center supervisor, incumbent performs non-licensed medical care in an assigned outpatient clinical setting. Performs a variety of tasks including assisting in patient care and registration, research lab processing, and data entry. Provides clerical assistance associated with the operations of a clinical office as necessary and can vary based on needs.

Requirements

• Understanding of medical terminology
• Phlebotomy certification
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Medical Assistant Certification
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• BLS certification upon hire
• Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting
• Outpatient experience
• Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
• Flexibility to work variable shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays
• Bilingual skill in Spanish or Vietnamese or Chinese
