About The Position
The Department of Neurological Surgery at UCSF is seeking a Medical Assistant 3 to assist in the delivery of care to patients in their Monterey Neurosurgery clinic. This role involves learning and assisting with adult neurosurgery care, participating in quality improvement teams to enhance patient health, and performing various personal care and clinical procedures. The Medical Assistant will support specialty care services, adhere to clinic standards, coordinate patient care, and act as a liaison between providers and patients, particularly for those with complex or chronic health conditions. This role also includes providing advocacy, information, and referral services to address patients' medical and psychosocial needs.
Requirements
- Must be able to learn and assist in Adult Monterey Neurosurgery.
- Must adhere to the Telephone and House Standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of care to patients in the Monterey Neurosurgery clinic under supervision.
- Learn and assist in Adult Monterey Neurosurgery care.
- Actively participate on a multidisciplinary quality improvement team to improve the health of targeted patients with chronic illness.
- Perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of specialty care services.
- Adhere to the Telephone and House Standards.
- Assist the care team by coordinating care for patients on and off the daily schedule.
- Act as a primary conduit for the transmission of information between providers and patients.
- Coordinate services for all patients who are part of the assigned panel, especially those with serious, complex or chronic health problems.
- Provide advocacy, information and referral services to patients and families to address their medical and psychosocial needs.
