Under direct supervision and within established scope of practice, assists the provider with examinations, treatments, and special procedures of patients as directed by San Ysidro Health policies and procedures in a clinic setting. This role involves upholding San Ysidro Health’s policies and procedures, core values, and competencies, as well as applicable state, federal, and local laws. The Medical Assistant performs routine patient care functions as prescribed by licensed healthcare providers, assists assigned physician(s) and/or other healthcare professional(s), and completes routine clerical functions. They are responsible for chart preparation and management, maintaining systems for patient test results and follow-up, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and documenting pertinent patient information. The role also includes preparing treatment rooms, applying aseptic techniques, managing medical supplies, performing point-of-care testing, and assisting with therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Additionally, the Medical Assistant prepares and administers medications, participates in clinical emergency codes, handles autoclave duties, and coordinates immunization and new employee health screenings. The position emphasizes customer service, patient-centered care, and effective teamwork, requiring adaptability, cooperation, and accountability.
