About The Position

Beltrami County is establishing an eligibility list for a full-time, benefited Medical Assistance/Transportation Specialist to work in Health & Human Services. The successful applicant will perform administrative support work providing transportation services to Medical Assistance eligible clients to enable them access to medical, dental and mental health treatment, maintain a caseload and related files, process information into systems, and complete related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Finance Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of work experience in a clerical social services role providing customer service to the public.
  • Valid MN driver’s license.
  • General knowledge of the Health Care Access Program; general knowledge of agency programs and operations and other community resources; general knowledge of the principals and practices of public social service and medical organizations and services; general knowledge of agency programs, operations and other community resources.
  • Ability to analyze data and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions.
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including related hardware and software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, health care professionals, service providers and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Meets with clients, provides information and explains available benefits for medical assistance.
  • Reviews and prioritizes applicant service requests for access to medical treatment; confirms program eligibility by researching system information; documents enrollment; flags system data integrity issues; sets up files and prioritizes service requests.
  • Analyzes requests for transportation; confirms eligibility; coordinates with transportation service providers; approves and processes transportation requests and vouchers for payment; verifies travel with client.
  • Audits service requests for mileage reimbursement to ensure compliance with policies and regulations; processes voucher to Account Technician for payment.
  • Administers eligibility requests for lodging including logistics assessment; connects with lodging providers; prepares voucher and submits for payment; verifies information with client.
  • Communicates with clients and medical providers, sometimes in crisis situations; explains programs and processes; responds to client and provider questions; tracks and logs calls and requests.
  • Determines eligibility for meal reimbursement; obtains receipts; enters data; authorizes and submits vouchers for payment.
  • Responds to emergency requests for medical, dental or mental health transportation, lodging and meal reimbursement; prepares and submits vouchers for payment.
  • Provides feedback for program improvement and service enhancement; maintains provider lists; reviews case file inconsistencies; testifies at hearings; provides referrals.
