About The Position

The Medicaid Enrollment Specialist helps consumers apply for health insurance through Maryland Health Connection. This role provides accurate information, enrollment assistance, and access to Medicaid services for eligible individuals. The position also supports outreach and Medicaid enrollment at various Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Parole and Probation sites.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of experience working with external partners.
  • High level of customer service
  • 2 years of experience processing experience with the Maryland Health Connection
  • Strong computer literacy skills, specifically with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint (365).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong attendance required
  • Ability to manage multiple systems and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet a demanding workload
  • Detail oriented to complete requirements of files and contract compliance.
  • Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of population served.
  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal safety and environmental codes, ordinances, standards and laws
  • Adhere to all HCAM and local safety plans, policies, practices and standards
  • Be aware of and follow all safety rules of your work site
  • Report any unsafe conditions or accidents to your supervisor
  • Practice standard precautions (formerly universal precautions) at all times
  • Participate in mandatory or available safety training

Responsibilities

  • Assist consumers with applying for Medicaid through the Maryland Health Connection
  • Refer consumers to the HCAM Connector team and partner agencies, as appropriate.
  • Provide system navigation support and information about Health Choice.
  • Conduct outreach and enrollment activities.
  • Receive, upload, and process verification documents and work items.
  • Maintain accurate and current consumer records.
  • Enter data across multiple systems.
  • Enroll consumers in Managed Care Organizations.
  • Monitor productivity and complete required reports.
  • Process state reports in Maryland Health Connection.
  • Complete referrals and CTAD requests.
  • Supports on site enrollment and client services with HCAM home office.
  • Serves as a backup for additional sites.
  • Additional duties requested by management
