Medicaid Coordinator (AmeriCorps)
About The Position
Primary Health Care is seeking an AmeriCorps Medicaid Coordinator through Iowa Community Corps. This role serves as an advocate and resource for patients, helping individuals and families navigate the Medicaid enrollment and renewal process to maintain uninterrupted access to affordable medical, dental, and behavioral health services. The position provides individual, group, and community outreach and education regarding Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, renewal, and community engagement requirements. The Medicaid Coordinator facilitates initial enrollment and biannual redetermination while supporting the organization through the development and implementation of internal processes that maximize stable insurance coverage for Primary Health Care patients.
Requirements
- Must apply directly through the Health & Human Services website.
- Serve a minimum of 26 hours per week.
- Occasional nights and weekend service will be necessary.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an advocate and resource for patients, helping individuals and families navigate the Medicaid enrollment and renewal process.
- Provide individual, group, and community outreach and education regarding Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, renewal, and community engagement requirements.
- Facilitate initial Medicaid enrollment and biannual redetermination.
- Support the organization through the development and implementation of internal processes that maximize stable insurance coverage for Primary Health Care patients.
- Build human infrastructure for organizations through volunteer and community engagement.
- Receive training and professional development to help build a strong workforce of Community Health Workers in Iowa.
