About The Position

The Digital Media Services Department, located within the Anderson Academic Commons, provides customer-focused support for audio, digital, and visual technology resources campus-wide, at the University of Denver. This includes general and non-general classrooms, audio-visual event resources and requests, video production services, video streaming for live events, audiovisual services for commencement, video teleconferencing, audio visual design consultation services, and senior-level and board of trustee meetings on and off campus. Reporting to the Manager of Digital Media Services, this position is responsible for delivering audiovisual technology support for University events, conferencing events, and special events, along with support for video conferencing services. This position also works on video projects as needed, which may require recording of live events, and reformatting and encoding a variety of video sources to make available for streaming or archival purposes. The work schedule is 37.5 hours per week and includes some nights and weekends. The position participates within the Digital Media Services team environment, possesses an understanding of established procedures, and can apply skills and knowledge in multiple functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience working with audiovisual, video, and computer equipment.
  • Prior customer service experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience with audiovisual, video, and computer equipment, preferably in a college or university environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in producing digital media and technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, test, and operate A/V equipment in accordance with the acoustics of the room and select, place, and adjust microphones for University events.
  • Mixing, regulating, and coordinating sound inputs.
  • Perform proper recording techniques to ensure quality recordings.
  • Instruct faculty, staff, and students in the operations of A/V equipment, including LCD projectors, document cameras, DVD/Blu-Ray players, flat-screen monitors, mixers, microphones, laptops, and computers.
  • Operate controls to maintain correct sound levels for events.
  • Provide information to principal users regarding policies and procedures for all media services.
  • Perform video conferencing and teleconferencing services.
  • Provide customer service and technical assistance to patrons using the University classroom equipment over the phone and on-site.
  • Perform basic repairs and log problems in the ticketing system.
  • Provides backup support for all units within the IT Customer Services department.
  • Participates as a member of the department’s team structure and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Take on high-level troubleshooting presented by Digital Media Technician II employees.
  • Escalate troubleshooting issues to the Manager and vendors.
  • Maintain equipment on a routine basis.
  • Perform periodic inventories as needed.
  • Maintains an inventory of event equipment, software, and materials.
  • Maintains an aging schedule for equipment rotation.
  • Help train Digital Media Technicians with the guidance of the Digital Media Services Manager.
  • Help train the DMS team on Momentus.
  • Attend weekly meetings with Momentus leadership.
  • Help keep the team on track with billing and invoices related to events.
  • Occasionally, lead team meetings. Meetings will cover event scheduling, training, and planning.
