About The Position

The Media Prep Technician supports the digital media supply chain by preparing, quality controlling, and delivering content to internal and external partners worldwide. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards for accuracy, reliability, and timeliness.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in broadcast operations, post-production, or a related media environment
  • 1+ year of experience using NLE systems such as Adobe Premiere
  • 1+ year of experience performing quality control (QC) for video or media assets
  • Working knowledge of digital media formats and codecs (e.g., QuickTime, MXF, MPEG, H.264)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and collaboration tools
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to work onsite in Denver, Colorado or Stamford, Connecticut, in accordance with a hybrid schedule (minimum four days per week in-office)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
  • Experience using transcoding platforms such as Vantage or similar systems
  • Familiarity with closed captioning tools (e.g., Stanza, CaptionMaker, or equivalent)
  • Experience working with Media Asset Management (MAM) systems
  • Experience collaborating within Microsoft Teams in a production or operations environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform editing and media preparation tasks using non-linear editing (NLE) platforms (e.g., Adobe Premiere) to prepare content for distribution
  • Execute Standards & Practices (S&P) edits to ensure compliance with network requirements, including blurring, video/audio corrections, and preservation of audio sync and captioning integrity
  • Conduct high-resolution quality control (QC) reviews for feature and episodic content, including full QC evaluations when required, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory specifications (e.g., FCC and NBCUniversal standards)
  • Verify that all assets meet required technical specifications and quality expectations prior to distribution
  • Ensure language, subtitle, and closed caption files are properly synced with video assets
  • Review and validate metadata accuracy associated with media assets
  • Transcode media files using platforms such as Vantage or comparable systems
  • Utilize internal workflow and asset tracking systems to manage assigned tasks and maintain delivery timelines
  • Work with closed captioning tools such as Stanza or CaptionMaker (or similar platforms)
  • Manage a queue of work and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and operational requirements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to support operational workflows
