About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for preparing and administering medications to residents. This role involves documenting residents' conditions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and requires strong communication skills. The CMA works primarily in a healthcare community environment, with potential for limited exposure to infectious conditions. The role requires the ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents, with or without reasonable accommodation. The CMA must be able to move throughout the buildings and grounds, lift up to 40 pounds, and work under stressful conditions to meet resident/family needs and deadlines. Essential functions include effective communication with residents, families, and staff, preparing and administering medications accurately, performing and documenting vital signs, reporting condition changes, documenting in EHRs, reporting incidents, promoting resident independence and well-being, performing daily care according to care plans, monitoring supplies and prescriptions, making prompt judgments regarding resident care, maintaining a safe and tidy environment, adhering to infection control practices, performing assigned tasks according to policies, performing CNA duties as assigned, and establishing a positive atmosphere for residents.

Requirements

High School Diploma
Completion of CMA course (Medication Aide)
CNA Course completion
Current CMA certification (Medication Aide)
Current CNA Certification
Minimum of 1 year of related experience
Computer literacy
Excellent communication skills
Team orientation
Ability to ensure timely arrival and stable transportation.

Preferred 5 years of experience

Responsibilities

Prepare and administer medications per physician orders and in accordance with federal/state regulations and facility policies
Perform vital signs as assigned and document
Communicate any reported/observed condition changes to charge nurse and document in Care Tracker
Document resident conditions and needs in all EHRs according to facility procedures
Reports all incidents and/or complaints according to facility procedures
Promotes resident independence, interacts with residents in a manner promoting mental and physical well-being.
Perform daily care per the resident's care plan, observed needs, and within regulations and facility standards of care and policies.
Monitor and assist with ordering and care of resident's supplies and prescriptions
Recognize, respond, and make prompt and accurate judgments with regard to resident care needs.
Maintain the resident's environment in a safe and tidy manner, including adherence to infection control practices.
Perform assigned tasks in accordance with facility policies and procedures
Perform C.N.A. duties as assigned.
Perform other assignments as requested.
Establish and encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth, and interest in residents' activity preferences and needs.
