About The Position

Hillcrest Health & Living is looking for an experienced, dependable, and self-directed Float Nurse Tech / Medication Aide to join our team at Hillcrest Country Estates Cottages in Papillion, NE. Hillcrest Country Estates Cottages is part of the Hillcrest Country Estates campus and provides skilled nursing, long-term care, and post-acute support in a warm, home-like environment. Our cottage model allows team members to build strong relationships with residents, guests, families, and coworkers while providing meaningful, personalized care. As a Float Nurse Tech / Medication Aide, you will support that mission by providing direct care, medication support, guest observations, admission support, and flexible coverage across multiple cottages.

Requirements

  • Active CNA certification in the state of Nebraska.
  • Active 40-hour Medication Aide certification in the state of Nebraska.
  • At least 5 years of CNA experience required.
  • Strong accountability and follow-through with care, documentation, communication, and daily responsibilities.
  • A self-directed work style with the ability to see what needs to be done and take appropriate action.
  • Flexibility and confidence to float between cottages and support changing priorities.
  • Ability to assist with admissions, transitions, and coverage needs across the Cottages.
  • A strong commitment to resident and guest dignity, comfort, safety, and quality of care.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to report changes or concerns promptly.
  • Strong attention to detail with care plans, vital signs, medication assistance, safety, and documentation.
  • A team-first approach with the professionalism to communicate directly, respectfully, and solution-focused.

  • Completion of 40-hour Medication Aide coursework required.
  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required.
  • Active 40-hour Medication Aide certification in the state of Nebraska required.
  • Basic Life Support CPR certification required or willingness to obtain within 45 days of hire.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to independently lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive sitting, bending, standing, walking, and movement as needed.
  • Must be flexible, calm, and professional in stressful or changing situations.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to utilize technology and care resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be comfortable floating between cottages based on resident, guest, admission, and staffing needs.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with older adults and providing personal care services in long-term care, post-acute care, hospital, senior living, or a similar setting preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous skilled nursing, post-acute, long-term care, hospital, or senior living experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Float between cottages based on resident, guest, admission, and staffing needs.
  • Provide direct personal care to assigned guests and residents according to their care plans.
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, undressing, hygiene care, perineal care, foley or ostomy bag emptying, and barrier ointment application.
  • Perform Medication Aide duties, including passing medications when required and within credentialing guidelines.
  • Complete and record blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, and weight according to facility standards or direction from the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assist guests and residents with ordering, receiving, setting up, and eating meals in a comfortable dining environment.
  • Complete all care according to the guest or resident care plan.
  • Carry pagers and answer call signals timely and professionally to determine and meet guest needs.
  • Observe guests and residents for changes in condition, behavior, or needs and report concerns promptly to the nurse.
  • Support new admissions and transitions by helping ensure rooms are ready with needed equipment, fresh water, and other supplies.
  • Write therapy schedules on guest whiteboards to support meal planning and daily routines.
  • Complete transfers by reviewing the appropriate mobility program selected for each guest.
  • Develop positive rapport with guests, residents, and families to support an outstanding experience.
  • Communicate clearly with nurses, therapy, families, and team members to support safe and consistent care.
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and supportive cottage environments.
