About The Position

St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center has served the healthcare needs of northwest Oklahoma for more than 100 years. We host more than 125 highly skilled physicians offering specialties in Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitation, Laboratory, Women’s Imaging, Wound Care, and more.

Position Summary:
Performs technical analytical procedures requiring knowledge and techniques in areas such as hematology, chemistry, special chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, serology, urinalysis, coagulation, and phlebotomy as ordered by the physician. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting for laboratory instrumentation. Performs, records, and participates in evaluation of Quality Control for tests conducted.

Requirements

• Current Med Tech Certification from ASCP or equivalent
• 2 year's experience applicable to the assignment
• Good verbal and written communication skills required.
• Good computer skills and experience with Microsoft applications required.
• Work a minimum of 36 hours per week during the assignment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection using appropriate collection techniques and devices as appropriate for age of patient.
• Demonstrates safe handling and proper collection techniques to maintain integrity and quality of specimens
• Demonstrates correct procedure for labeling, accessioning, and delivering specimens to the proper department.
• Responds promptly to phlebotomy requests for STATs, ASAPs, NOWs and outpatients, with a supportive and cooperative attitude.
• Communicates information to appropriate areas, departments and individuals. Alerts appropriate staff concerning STAT orders.
