About The Position

The Med Surg Patient Care Tech provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses and helping maintain a safe, healing environment. The role gathers patient information and reports changes in condition to the nursing team to contribute to patient assessment and care.

The position supports patients receiving medical and pre- and post-surgical care, including patients with infectious conditions requiring isolation, multiple comorbidities, bariatric needs, respiratory problems, or renal needs. The listed schedule is 24 hours per week, with day shifts from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m., holiday rotation, and every other weekend required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant certification.
• Preferred experience as a CNA, nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision and promote patient- and family-centered care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living; perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter when necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in patient safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and professional development activities.
