About The Position

The 6 North unit at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital is a 36-private-bed general medicine/telemetry, progressive care unit. It provides services to adults and older adults with complex medical and psychosocial conditions, including acute and chronic care diagnoses such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Diabetes, and Pneumonia. The unit is equipped with a complete array of monitoring systems, telemetry, and patient and staff safety devices/equipment. Additionally, eight beds are designated for the Addiction Recovery Program (ARP), serving adults seeking voluntary detoxification for alcohol and opiate misuse. Care is provided by direct-care nurses in collaboration with medical providers, including mid-level practitioners (NP/PA), under the direction of the nursing leadership team.

Requirements

  • BSN required.
  • Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required.
  • Must show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a Group of patients.
  • Demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities.
  • Ability to function under stress with good Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, team work, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.

Nice To Haves

  • Med./surg./Tele. experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct-care nursing services to adults and older adults with complex medical and psychosocial conditions.
